It's a matter of attitude and perspective…

LURED FROM LETHARGY: Most days, when I anticipate walking Mr. Fuzzy around the block, instead of just letting lethargy hold me back, I remind myself of my secret enticements. It’s the gifts!

No, it’s not like hidden Easter eggs scattered in my neighborhood. It’s just the serendipity of unexpected encounters. Like this peculiar find when the pup tugged to go right instead of left.

“ ‘Tis But a Scratch,” I read. Then my head exploded. Are you kidding me?! Well, let’s think about this a bit. Maybe everyone got out okay and nobody was hurt. Maybe the accident could’ve been worse but for some skilled driving. Maybe this car had all kinds of other quirks and hiccups and was just begging to be totaled and replaced. Our family has had clunkers like that.

All of these possibilities led me to wonder if this owner might just be a skilled optimist. Something I’ve been practicing a lot recently with my puppetry.

So, I kept this in mind. And then the Universe hit me with an excellent example of developing resiliency in the face of life’s intense trials. Specifically, I was listening to Terry Gross on NPR’s “Fresh Air.” She was interviewing New York Times columnist Frank Bruni about his partial blindness after a stroke. He was articulate and fascinating.

I am now recommitted to considering alternate perspectives. Ever more challenging in light of current times. And, here is my closer, a tune to whistle as you like. Thank you, Bob Marley, for “Three Little Birds.”
