“I’ve got a secret,” said the woman to the fly.
Some secrets, the constructive ones, may be called “discoveries” which are ripe for sharing. They offer surprise, freedom, some emotional wiggle room. Personal “pay dirt,” you could say.
Here is my most recent. I was scanning Jack Canfield’s book, THE SUCCESS PRINCIPLES, http://www.thesuccessprinciples.com/resources_index.php and found Dr. Daniel Amen’s 18/40/60 Rule: “When you’re 18, you worry about what everybody is thinking of you; when you’re 40, you don’t give a darn what anybody thinks of you; when you’re 60, you realize nobody’s been thinking about you at all.”
Wow! Ain’t it the truth?! Imagine that! All we really need is our own internal compass, set somewhere north of positive, and a little help from our friends…or family…or colleagues. Fill in your own group.
The way I interpret this is that I need to pay close attention to what my own goals and desires are, the ones that will really elevate my mood, my art skills, my quality of interactions with those I know and those I have yet to know. And I remain open to course corrections and sensitive to my effects on others along the way.
I think I can do that. How about you?
